Diego Santacruz Descartín
With more than twenty years of practice, Diego has extensive experience in directing and advising complex judicial and arbitration procedures, both national and international.
As Head of the International Arbitration Department of the State Attorney’s Office, he coordinated the defense of the interests of the Spanish State in more than 44 arbitration proceedings on energy, urban planning and mines before the ICSID, PCA and SCC. He has also advised and directed different arbitrations before the ICC and the Chamber of Commerce of Santiago de Chile.
As per national law practice, his scope of action focuses on civil and contentious-administrative litigation, as well as advice on commercial and legal-administrative issues.
As State Attorney, he also held the following positions:
— Chief State Attorney in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country
— Secretary of the Regional Economic Administrative Courts of the Basque Country, Aragón and Cantabria
— Member of the Provincial Expropriation Juries of Zaragoza, Cantabria and Álava
— Member of the Board of Directors of the Port Authority of Pasaia
— Coordinator of the Legal Assistance Agreement with the Port Authority of Pasaia, the State Company COFIVACASA and the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDEA)
