José María Calero Martínez
Public Prosecutor on professional leave of absence since 2007, he has spent most of his professional career as a lawyer specialized on white-collar crime and tax offenses, firstly as Head of the Criminal Law Department at Montero Aramburu Abogados and later as founder of Calero-Martínez Criminal Lawyers.
A member of the prosecutor’s office since 1987, he served as a prosecutor in the Provincial Courts of Huelva and Seville and played a key role in developing international legal cooperation programs in various countries. He had been a member of the Public Prosecutor’s Office Network for international judicial cooperation, an International Consultant for the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation in Honduras and an expert in various programs aimed to strengthen the judicial system and the rule of law in Bulgaria and Kosovo.
A professor of criminal law in a number of universities, courses, and programs, teaching has been a constant throughout his career.
He is a founding member of the Spanish Union of Criminal Lawyers.
