Jaime de San Román enjoys an overall experience of more than 40 years as legal counsel in all types of commercial law transactions, particularly focusing on corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, capital markets (debt, capital and securitisations) and banking (corporate, project and acquisition financing and refinancing).
He began his professional career as legal counsel to Sears Roebuck España, S.A. (1979-1982) and Citibank, NA’s Spanish affiliate (1983-1990). He joined Clifford Chance in 1991, where he worked as Partner in charge of the Banking Law Department, Managing Partner and Senior Partner until July 2009. In October 2009 he joined Uría Menéndez as a Partner in the Commercial Department, part of the Banking Law area, acting as Coordinating Partner of the banking area between 2012 and 2017.
Additionally, he is Lecturer in Commercial Law at Universidad Pontificia de Comillas (ICADE) since 1986.
He has also been a Lecturer in financing and banking contracts at Centro de Estudios Garrigues for 15 years, and at the ICAM Private Law Masters for 16 years.
For 7 years, he directed the Business Law Masters of Fundación Carolina and Universidad Francisco de Vitoria for Latin American lawyers.
